Cooper at 4 months

Cooper turned 4 months old on Tuesday and went for his well-baby checkup today. He is in fact a well baby per Dr. Long and is growing like a weed. He weighs 16 pounds, 10 ounces (80th percentile) and is 26.50 inches long (91st percentile). His head circumference is also right on track. He even showed off for Dr. Long and rolled from his stomach to his back three times while on the examining table. I assume this is the first time he's done that, although who knows what Miss Lynne gets him to do at daycare.

We go back at 6 months for more shots! Dr. Long wants us to start rice cereal and in two weeks start Stage 1 fruits. We are going with prunes first in hopes of helping him with his constipation issue. Many exciting changes on the horizon!!!!

Tomorrow Cooper is getting his Easter picture made at our photographer's and then Sunday is his first Easter!!! I know he is going to look so handsome in his new bubble. After church we are meeting Nick and Meg for breakfast and then having dinner at Nanny and Pop Pop's and celebrating not only Easter but the April birthdays (Crystal, Grayson and me)!

At four months Cooper...

... is grabbing at and playing with anything he can get his hands on.

... still loves pulling Mommy's hair.

... is babbling all the time, especially when he wakes up.

... is still pretty constipated on a regular basis (poor thing).

... rolls all over the place.

... laughs hysterically when Christopher makes him dance.

... ends up at the other end of his crib by morning.

... loves to lay in his tub (sans water) and watch Mommy make dinner.

... is still the best thing that ever happened to us.

Happy Easter little man. Can't wait to see what the Easter Bunny brings you.

Two Days Down, Two To Go

If I said it was a busy week, I'd be underestimating the amount of stuff I have had and still have to do.

However, I had a blast at my VHA board meeting... we all laughed and talked about important and crazy things while eating yummy cake from Zoe's Kitchen and stuffing Easter Eggs with candy for the Easter Egg Hunt. Matters of the Heart last night was also wonderful (and very emotional). Ms. Cheap from The Tennessean gave a great talk about tips and tricks to save money. Note to self: email her about consignment store in Hendersonville. I was lucky enough to sit by her during dinner and found out she goes to our church! She and her husband go to the 7 am service... that's why I wasn't aware she was a member. A few tears were shed when The Jacobsons spoke since we all knew it would be there last MOH. Please pray that the VHA is blessed with a new mentor/sponsor that is half as great as this amazing couple.

Today is yard sale/bake sale set-up which means tomorrow is the Annual VHA Yard Sale & Bake Sale benefiting Jade Pasley Fund and Gilda's Club. After dragging Cooper out at 5 am, I'm hoping we will get a nap in before Jane and Dana come over for dinner (Dad is on call and will miss all this fun). Sunday will be a day of rest and HOPEFULLY posting more pics and some old videos of Cooper Baby. So stay tuned...

Milestones

Not only is Cooper reaching for toys, holding a rattle and grabbing at things, but he is officially sleeping through the night! For the last three nights he has slept from 9pm to 5/6 am. Yay Coopies!!!

Cooper Turns 3 Months Old!

I'm sure every month I will say that I can't believe Cooper is already _ months old, but it's true. Where has the time gone?

Cooper's third month of life has been pretty eventful. Mommy went back to work which meant Cooper started school. He loves his teachers Miss Malina and Miss Lynne and they take great care of him during the day. He has nice kids in his class, but Mommy's favorite is Austin because he and Cooper had on the same outfit one day (and it had stripes). They must have planned it :)

Cooper also went on his first out of town trip this month. We had a great time in Abingdon, VA hanging out with Mama and Papa Wells. They of course thought he was the best thing since sliced bread and we all enjoyed some time together. The grown ups played cribbage and talked while Cooper showed off his skills on the Boppy. Our little one has a very strong neck.

This month also was the beginning of many, many Guy Smiley moments. Once he started he couldn't stop smiling at his Mom and Dad. I think he's even starting to laugh, but Christopher just thinks it's a funny sounding coo. Cooper also decided he's a morning person this month... just like his Dad. It makes for very pleasant mornings as he smiles and coos while we change, eat and get packed up for school.

While he has slept through the night on many occasions, it doesn't happen consistently. But one quick feeding and then back to sleep in 30 mins. isn't something I'm going to complain about.

Next month... hopefully BIG laughs! Also we have our first infant panel photo session scheduled and his first VHA event.

We have returned...

... from a weekend visit with Grandma and Grandpa Wells in Virginia. Super cute pics will be posted shortly along with a recap!

These are the times that try a mom's soul...

Christopher left the house yesterday at 6:15 am for his 30-hour on call shift at Vandy. Because I have an excellent baby I knew I would get everything accomplished on my list for the day and Cooper would be the star attraction at Dana's Oscar party that night. Then we would come home, sleep through the night (as he did the night before) and wake up refreshed and ready for the work week ahead. What was I smoking???

Cooper woke up at 8 am and made it clear that he was going to have a fussy day. Once I gave up the dream of going to the Encore and More consignment sale my Mom came over and helped my with Cooper while I prepped for D's party, made a meal for a new mom, showered, put clothes away, etc.

We left the house at 4:15 pm, only 15 mins behind schedule. Because my Mom had just fed him, I knew Cooper would sleep soundly in the car while we made the food drop-off and headed to Dana's. Heck, he might even sleep through the party.

One of these days I will learn not to tempt fate.

Although he did sleep through the car ride, the second his carrier touched Dana's floor he woke up. And about 45 mins later he started to cry. Really a fussing/crying combo pack. This continued right on through the evening (much to the other party goer's disappointment I'm sure) until we gave up and went home at 9:45 pm. I know the fussiness was due to gas and then being so tired he couldn't sleep, but come one... give a Mama a break. Thanks to some dear friends who offered to hold, rock, sway, feed, and love on Sir Grumps-a-lot I did get to eat and watch a few random moments of the Oscars. Surely he would fall asleep on the way home...

Gotcha!

By the time we got home and settled upstairs it was about 11pm. After a warm bottle and some Tylenol (in case these were growth spurt pains) Cooper fell asleep at midnight. I tell myself as I lay him down that he will definitely sleep through the night since he's been up and fussing for going on 8 hours now...

Long story short... we've been awake since 3 am.

Please pray for me today... and the poor clients whose returns are prepared by a woman with 3 hours sleep.
